A 22-year-old woman was hospitalized Friday night after losing control of her car, and driving it into the water at Hyrum Reservoir. The crash was reported at approximately 7:30 p.m. on the west side of Hyrum Dam.

Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen said the woman was driving eastbound and allegedly failed to navigate a bend in the road around the dam. The car left the road way, landing in the reservoir.

The driver was able to escape from the car. She was transported to Logan Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Her identity is being withheld, pending an investigation.

Deputies suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash. No charges have been filed yet.

Jensen expressed appreciation to passerby’s, who witnessed the crash and rendered assistance to the victim.
