LOGAN – There remain about two months to go on the Center Street project between Main Street and 100 West in downtown Logan. Downtown Alliance Manager Gary Saxton, on KVNU’s For the People program, said businesses in the construction zone remain open with gravel pathways to gain access.
“September 16th is the date that they start pouring the concrete for the sidewalks and that will go through ’til October 21st. (That) is the first day of asphalt (pouring). So, that’s kind of the two dates for your listeners to think about,” he said.
Saxton said things are going as planned. They have dug up a lot of old infrastructure and put in new gas lines, water lines and sewer, in addition to new communication lines. He said crews are doing a lot of 100 year improvements.
“We just looked at cities that had done this, and we saw a few of how they did it, and the results of how they did that construction phasing. It seemed like those who just shut the whole street down to cars but left the pedestrian open had the better experience.”
Saxton said the project is still scheduled to be done by mid-November.
