BRIGHAM CITY — Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a 57-year-old Ogden man who was found dead in Box Elder County. Brent Daily was found by searchers Wednesday afternoon in the mountains east of Willard.
Box Elder County Chief Deputy Dale Ward said the sheriff’s office was contacted by Weber County deputies earlier in the day about Daily’s disappearance. He had reportedly left Ogden on Tuesday morning and had not been seen since.
Daily’s pickup and trailer were located in Liberty. He frequently rode his UTV in the mountains above Liberty and Avon.
The area where they believed Daily was, Ward explained, covered parts of Weber, Cache and Box Elder counties. Search and Rescue teams from each sheriff’s office, along with a helicopter from the Utah Department of Transportation, were called to assist.
The air crew spotted Daily at about 5 p.m. in the Willard Basin area. They landed nearby and determined that he was deceased. Investigators at the scene were unable to determine if an accident caused his death, or if he suffered a medical issue that caused the accident. Searchers had been told previously that Daily had a medical condition that required much needed medication.
Ward explained that Daily’s body was recovered from the scene and turned over to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office, who will determine the exact cause of death.
