LOGAN – About 2,200 residents in unincorporated Cache County will likely see an increase in their monthly waste collection fees beginning the first of next year.
Logan City, which has been generating and mailing out bills for garbage collection, will discontinue the billing process and hand it over to the county.
The county is considering a third party service provider to handle the billing, which would include printing and mailing monthly statements and envelopes.
The cost for that service will be passed on to residents.
During Tuesday night’s county council meeting, County Finance Director Cameron Jensen proposed increasing the monthly waste collection fee an additional $3 if residents choose to receive a paper statement in the mail, $1 if they choose an auto pay option.
A 1.5% late fee will also be implemented.
While a final determination on a cost increase has yet to be decided, council members agreed with Jensen’s proposal.
