LOGAN— The 2013 Miss Cache Valley Pageant is coming up on March 2, and current title holder Lindsey Lopez said "it's been a wonderful run.” Lopez said the experience has inspired her to go on serving others once she crowns her successor.

On KVNU's Crosstalk show Thursday, Lopez talked about an unforgettable experience when a five or six year old girl who was losing her sight due to cancer of the eyes approached her.

“She came up to me and she just was so excited to meet a real princess in real life and I had the opportunity to talk to her and to tell her that she was a princess,” Lopez said. “That a princess is somebody who has a big heart and a bigger smile, and is somebody who helps those around them and gives hugs to those who are having a bad day and sit alone at lunch and don’t have friends. That’s a real princess – it’s the deeds that you do.”

Among the many events Lopez has been a part of, she has participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, as well as “Dancing with the Relay Stars.” As she moves on to the future, Lopez said she hopes to trade the title of Miss Cache Valley for “opera singer” before too long.

The 2013 competition will be held at the Ellen Eccles Theatre on March 2, 2013, at 7 p.m. More event information and tickets are available by visiting the event website
