Norton says experience in banking industry makes him qualified for treasurer

Friday’s Cache County Republican Convention will be a busy one with delegates scheduled to vote in more than the usual number of contests from within the party itself.

Stan Norton is one of three candidates for Cache County Treasurer, all wanting to succeed current treasurer Karen Jeppsen who is retiring.

On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Wednesday, Norton said he is the most qualified of the three having had 32 years experience in the banking industry and working as a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor.

“My door would always be open to whoever wants to come in and talk to me,” he said. “I can go over the ways they can get the tax breaks for the elderly. I’ve worked with the elderly through a lot of my career because of trusts and I have a soft spot for them.”

Other candidates for treasurer are Denice Lindsay and Craig McCallister.

There is one other three-way race and that is for the county executive office. The three running for outgoing Lynn Lemon’s job are Boyd Pugmire, Mark Maughan, and Craig Buttars.
