Gov. Herbert orders flags fly at half mast to honor slain service members

Governor Gary Herbert has authorized the lowering of the United States flag and the flag of the State of Utah to honor the five service members killed last week in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The governor issued a statement saying, “A senseless, violent killing of any American is a terrible tragedy, but when it happens to our brave service men and women on our own soil, it is even more appalling.

“Jeanette and I send our deepest condolences to the victims and their families.”

The flags will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities from now until sunset on Saturday, July 25th.
