Cache Valley to spend $100,000 on branding initiative

LOGAN— Last week, Logan’s Municipal Council voted unanimously to invest $100,000 into a “branding Cache Valley initiative” to be administered by the Cache Chamber of Commerce. They hope it will help bring good jobs and businesses into the area, and emphasize the positive qualities of Logan and Cache Valley.

Several years ago, the state of Utah participated in a similar program, which led to the current slogan, “Life Elevated.”

In debating whether the investment would pay off, Logan Economic Development Director Kirk Jensen said the branding effort promoted earlier by Mark Hurst, a consultant with Salt Lake City’s Connect Partners, is not to increase tourism.

“If we don’t put out a message too, we send a message by default – and who knows what that is. We’ve heard what that is from some people, it’s bad air quality, we’re so remote, we’re isolated, it’s cold,” Jensen said.

Jensen told the council the Chamber will try to get some financial assistance from other sources such as USU, local businesses, and the Governor’s office of Economic Development.
