Thank you for organizing this debate. Fact Check: I asked our attorney general why he had not been willing to defend Carl Wimmer's pro-life bill. He answered the wrong question, apparently thinking I had asked why he didn't support that bill. The record is clear: He was not willing to defend it, and he was not willing to accept pro bono defense.

Mr. Shurtleff used a lawyer trick of word substitution. My question was not whether he supported Carl Wimmer’s pro-life bill, but why he refused to defend it, even when a public interest law firm had offered to defend it for free. I was not allowed an opportunity to reply. It is Mr. Shurtleff that needs to get his facts straight. I will post my Fact Check on my Facebook page soon.

Cherilyn Eagar is the best candidate and was HOT on the stage that night. Mark Shurtleff is a piece of suck. Bob Bennett looks like a monkey. CHERILYN EAGAR FOREVER!!!!!

Eagar was completely off base with her attacks and accusations against the Attorney General. It was a manipulative and strategic move that stretched the truth, a cheap shot for short term political points. Immigration is not a state issue, it is a federal, and the AG has clearly stated that there needs to be stricter control at the border, and that there should be fines and deportion for violators. The bill passed in the Utah legislature last year was a joke. This is a federal campaign, not state

No law enforcement agency wants their cops to be cross-deputized as ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents because then we can't attack the bigger problem of the felony crimes — the drug dealers, gang bangers, human traffickers who are also illegal aliens," Shurtleff said.

fact check for Eagar v Shurtleff Eagar was correct on immigration and on amendment 3. They were talking about 2 different time periods for the abortion question and so were both correct. http://thehopeorg.org/politics_spec_AG_candidates_address_polygamy.html http://www.deseretnews.com/article/print/600139219/Gay-rights-fund-raiser-is-big-draw.html http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4188/is_20030831/ai_n11410179/ http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4188/is_20060411/ai_n16178758/
