A semi truck jack-knifed in Cove Tuesday killing its 81-year-old driver, Cache County Sheriff's Officials say.
Emergency crews responded to 1631 E. 12600 North on the report of the jack-knifed vehicle and found the driver, Daniel Newman of Riverton, unconscious and unresponsive, sheriff's officials said. The doors of the vehicle were locked and employees from a nearby business reportedly were able to break a window to get to Newman.
Local EMTs and the county ambulance treated Newman, who was not from Cache County, but he never regained consciousness or a pulse, reports state. Newman was pronounced dead at the Logan Regional Hospital, and sheriff's officials are saying there likely was a "medical issue" at hand in the incident.
Newman's semi reportedly was completely blocking the road of 12600 North. It was carrying a load of steel products to local businesses in Cove.
