Committee approves Pyfer's nomination

By Associated Press

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The state Senate Education Confirmation Committee has approved naming a Utah State University educator to the state Board of Education.

Tami Wight Pyfer's nomination now goes before the full Senate. She would replace Shelly Locke, who resigned in December to focus on advocating for the preservation of families and mothers' rights.

Locke was about a year into a 4-year term. Pyfer is a clinical instructor in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation at USU.
