Sen. Bennett blasting Obama's space cuts

By Cache Valley Daily

Senator Bob Bennett, R-Utah, is attacking President Barack Obama's decision to end the new-generation Constellation space program. The program promised a lot of work for ATK Space Systems in Utah.

The Republican Senator told state lawmakers last week that he thinks the president's decision is "stupid" and he will try to get key members of Congress to reverse it.

First District Congressman Rob Bishop, R-Utah, whose district takes in many ATK operations, says Obama's move would do away with 7,000 jobs nationwide involved in space engineering, math and science. ATK laid off 429 workers last week and 550 last October.

It's about time somebody scaled back our space program. it is the biggest boondoggle in the history of the USA. i.e. Wow, there's red dirt on Mars.
