The Utah Department of Transportation is holding a public open house on Thursday, March 11th where studies of possible realignment and expansion of State Road 30 will be explained. The open house is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Bridgerland Applied Technology College, 1301 North 600 West and Project Manager Charles Mace says public input will be welcomed.

There has been talk for some time about the possibility of widening 200 North or 400 North or both but Mace says several alternatives are being looked at, including doing nothing.

On KVNU's Crosstalk show Monday, Mace said SR-30, commonly known as the Valley View Highway, is a regional highway with an increasing traffic demand.

“By the time we can build something and have it last 20 years," Mace said, "this area is going to be over-crowded and will not function properly. That’s part of what we’re establishing right now and going to disclose in the meeting from our study. Part of the purpose and need is that there is going to be more traffic here than the roads can deal with.”

Mace says a presentation will be made on the hour at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. Mace says the project in large part would be to relieve congestion on Logan's Main Street. More information about the public meeting is available on the UDOT website.
