Sen. Bennett: Obama should scrap original plans on health care

Senator Bob Bennett, R-Utah, says President Barack Obama will continue to try to ram his proposed health care reform bill through Congress in spite of the fact that the American people don't want it.

During a radio news conference Friday, Sen. Bennett said the president seems to think he'll pay a huge price in the next election if a health care bill is not approved. Sen. Bennett says he disagrees with that assumption.

“I think it would be better for him politically," Sen. Bennett said, "and very much better for the country, for him to say, ‘Alright, I hear the voter outrage. I see what happened at the elections.

'"I’m willing to scrap my original plans, reach out to the Republicans in a meaningful way and say what ideas do you have that we can agree on. If we can’t do comprehensive reform let’s at least do some step-by-step things that will help alleviate the pressures on health care.'”

Sen. Bennett says there is likely to be a very nasty battle before the health care overhaul issue is resolved.

The president is much too prideful to admit that his idea is wrong - and we all know that "Pride goeth before the Fall" - unfortunately, we are the ones to take the brunt of the fall.
