Woodruff Elementary locked down Wednesday after gun report

By Logan City Police Department

At approximately 12:45 PM on 03/10/10 officials at the Woodruff Grade School in the area of 1000 West 600 South in Logan received a call stating there was a man with a long gun in the area of the school. The school administrator initiated a school lockdown for the safety of the students and teachers. He then immediately contacted police.

Officers responded to the area and began to search the school and the grounds area. The individual was not located at that time and the school lifted the lockdown when it was confirmed there was no longer an immediate danger.

Following further investigation officers located a witness to the incident that stated his relative came to his home to barrow a long gun to go do some target practice. The firearm was carried from the house to a vehicle and the vehicle then left the area. There was no criminal intent by the individual who was in possession of the firearm therefore no charges will be filed.

Isn't this the second time this has happened there? I thought they did the same thing a few years ago when some guys were doing some hunting or something in those fields before the development went in?
