Hundreds expected to help on Day of Caring

Wednesday is the United Way of Cache Valley's "Day of Caring," a day a large group of local businesses and individuals will be working as volunteers on projects that help the community. United Way's Executive Director, Doug Stephenson, says the projects will help such organizations as the Cache Community Food Pantry, CAPSA and the Whittier Community Center.

"We're going to be meeting down at the pavilion at the Willow Park in the south part of Logan," Stephenson explains, "and we're going to have donuts, juice and milk while we kind of get ourselves organized as to who's going to what projects."

Stephenson says the people planning to help should be to the west pavilion by 8:15 where their assignments will be made on 16 different projects.

"We're going to have Dean Quayle from the Logan City Council talk to us about volunteerism, then we'll be on our way."

Stephenson says United Way raises money for 19 different non-profit agencies in the valley through payroll deduction from employees at their places of business. He expects somewhere between 175-200 people Wednesday. For more information call 881-8648.
