Launch rocket tested in Utah

By Cache Valley Daily

PROMONTORY, Utah (AP) -- ATK Space Systems has some new data to study after testing a new rocket motor.

ATK and NASA conducted a ground test on the launch system, causing a booming, fiery blast early Tuesday.

ATK says the system produced approximately 3.6 million pounds of thrust, or 22 million horsepower, and burned for just over two minutes.

ATK says the main object of Tuesday's test was measuring the first-stage rocket's performance at cold temperatures and reviewing how new materials in the motor joints performed.

and ask them about the fallout from the plume that blanketed surrounding homes and damaged property!!! Their environmental clean up crews are being kept busy. Personally, They won't even tell me, accurately, what was in the fallout - We'll have to wait and see if they make good on compensating for damage to our property
