Fairgrounds disc golf course growing in popularity and preventing vandalism

A disc golfer plays a round during the grand opening of the Cache County Fairgrounds new course.

Revenues are up and it has been a busy year at the Cache County Fairgrounds. That is what Fairground Manager Bart Esplin told the Cache County Council at their meeting on Tuesday. Esplin said something new has been added: a disc golf course.

”Let me tell you that is a very busy thing,” Esplin said. “We’ve had people from all over the country come. Not necessarily to play just there but they’re passing through and they stop and play. It has received a reputation as one of the best disc golf courses.”

Esplin told the council that most of the money spent for the disc golf course was paid by the disc golf club, more than $600, and the county paid less than $500 for the labor.

He said it has meant more people and more activity going on which has also helped eliminate vandalism.
