Preliminary hearing scheduled for USU frat member accused of voyeurism

LOGAN — A 22-year-old Utah State University student and fraternity member, Griffin C. Ford, who is accused of secretly recording himself having sex with another student, has asked a judge for a preliminary hearing.

Court records show, Ford was arraigned in 1st District Court Monday morning. He has been charged with one count of voyeurism, a class A misdemeanor.

Police report Ford allegedly recorded himself and the victim having consensual relations at the Pi Kappa Alpha frat house. The video was taken, using his cell phone and later saved to his laptop. It is believed that he later showed the video to several of his friends.

The victim called police in April after finding the video while borrowing the laptop.

Ford was arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail. He was later released after posting $1,950 bail.

During Monday’s arraignment, Ford’s attorney asked Judge Thomas Willmore for a preliminary hearing, where prosecutors will present their evidence in the case.

Judge Willmore scheduled the hearing date for June 13 and will then rule if there is sufficient evidence to bind Ford over for trial.
