Miss Cache Valley highlights benefits of local pageants

Everyone is invited to attend a Meet and Greet Princess Party fundraiser for Miss Cache Valley, Karlie Major, on Saturday, April 26. The party will be held at Dance Illusion, 36 South Main in Logan from 1-4 p.m.

The event is to raise money for Major to compete in the Miss Utah Pageant which will be held June 16 in Salt Lake City. On KVNU’s Crosstalk program Friday, Major said she has put in a lot of hours as Miss Cache Valley but has loved every minute. She encouraged others to get involved in pageants because she said there is a lot to gain.

“Life skills, people skills, communication skills and really it builds you up as a person and defines you into the best person that you can be,” Major said. “This program really is something that is great for resumes, it’s really great for networking skills.

“You just really get the opportunity to be involved in some really neat opportunities and events that are going on here in the community.”

As a service project for Miss Cache Valley, Major is trying to collect 1000 pairs of shoes to send to people in Burkina Faso, Africa, the third poorest country in the world. The deadline for collection is May 7. Shoes can be donated at various locations throughout Cache Valley, including at the Cache Valley Media Group at 810 W. 200 N. in Logan.
