United Way, Caine College join forces to raise money for youth

You could say “Notes of Appreciation” is an appropriate theme for the United Way of Cache Valley’s largest event of the year because the featured speaker at the annual fundraiser is Craig Jessop, dean of the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University. The United Way’s executive director Doug Stephenson said the event will be held on Saturday, June 29 in the USU Taggart Student Center ballroom and everyone is invited to attend.

Stephenson said money raised will help support programs offered by the United Way’s partners.

“We’ve often said that if everyone just chipped in a dollar or two we could already meet the needs that are here for these agencies,” Stephenson said. “We’ve tried to vet what we consider a good cross section of help here in the valley. We’ve looked at the young people with the children at Bear River Head Start and the Centre de la familia de Utah and we worked with the families that are there with the child and family support center.”

On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Tuesday, Stephenson said entertainment at the dinner will be provided by concert pianist and composer Kevin Kula. There will be silent and live auctions.
