Cache County continues to gather information about past floods while preparing for potential future ones

Now that Cache County has been declared a disaster area by the White House, in the wake of the February floods, work has started in applying for funding for the projects needed to start the repair for damages.

Cache County Executive Craig Buttars told the Cache County Council Tuesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, also known as FEMA, will have someone visiting Cache and Box Elder counties during the coming weeks to help make applications for the various funds.

“At our next meeting…I’ve invited Brian McInerney from the National Weather Service,” Buttars informed the council. “He’s actually going to be across the street for the Logan City Council earlier in the evening on (May) 9th.

“But he will be come over here at about 6:30 on the 9th to give us an update on the projections as far as runoff and different scenarios we need to be looking at and planning for.”

In the meantime, Buttars says property owners involved in agriculture are asked to submit information about their losses.
