Ogden-- The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists that closures on 1000 West (SR-252) in Logan could have an impact on travelers in the northern Utah community for Utah State University commencement ceremonies this weekend.

Construction work as a part of the Tenth West Reconstruction will close SR-252 in three segments beginning May 1 through May 7. Either closure may impact travel for local and visiting motorists attending the USU Commencement activities May 3-4.

Travelers are advised that a full closure of 1000 West will occur from 1000 North to 2500 North, beginning Saturday, May 4, at 7 a.m., and reopening by 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 5. Crews will be working on electrical power line crossings, and all traffic, particularly those motorists whose travel is time-sensitive, should detour to Main Street (US-91) or 600 West via 200 North (SR-30), 1000 North, or 2500 North.

Additionally, a full closure of 1400 North, between 600 West and 1000 West, will occur from Saturday, May 4, through Wednesday, May 8. Local business and school traffic will be accommodated, but all such traffic must enter this zone from 600 West.

Finally, traffic between 600 West and 1000 West on 2500 North, will be reduced to one lane, on May 1, May 3 and May 7, while utility companies place new infrastructure. Flaggers will be directing traffic at the work site, and motorists should expect delays of at least 10 minutes. Those with time-sensitive travel are encouraged to use alternate routes, such as Main Street (US-91) and 600 West.

For general information about the Logan Tenth West Reconstruction project, e-mail the project team at tenthwest@utah.gov, call toll-free at 888-427-8585, or visit the project website at http://udot.utah.gov/tenthwest.
