If you are interested in running for a seat on the Logan Municipal Council it will soon be time to do something about it. Logan City Recorder Teresa Harris says there are three council seats up for grabs and the filing date opens on Monday, June 1. It closes one week later on Monday. June 8.

Harris says the terms of councilmembers Herm Olsen, Karl Ward and Jeannie Simmonds are all expiring.

In order to file you need to come into the Recorder’s Office in City Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

“There’s no filing fee,” Harris explains. “They must be a registered voter of Logan City, 18 years old, and they must have been a resident for at least 365 consecutive days as of the election date, November 3rd.”

Harris says none of the three incumbents have indicated whether or not they will seek re-election.

“Just a reminder it will be an all vote-by-mail for the election. To have a primary we need seven candidates. If we only have six candidates file we won’t have a primary. We will wait and go to the general election in November.”

The Logan City elections are non-partisan and they are open, not divided into districts.
