LOGAN — Troopers say a fatal accident in Rich County that killed a 24-year-old Logan man early Tuesday morning, may have been intentional.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said Matthew T. Anderson was driving a 1995 dark blue Honda Accord, traveling northbound on state road 89 in Logan Canyon. Near milepost 495, the vehicle failed to make a curve in the road, crossed through the southbound lanes, went off the roadway and straight into a rock wall.

Troopers said it appeared the vehicle traveled up the rock wall almost reaching the top, before curving back down and coming to rest on it’s top.

Anderson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perry said officers received a call earlier, concerned about Anderson’s safety and had been searching for his vehicle prior to the accident.

Investigators said alcohol, speed and suicide are all currently being investigated as possible causes of the accident.
