LOGAN — A fire early Thursday morning destroyed a home near 1176 North 250 East. The fire was reported at 1:45 a.m.

Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys said the fire was reported by an individual that could smell smoke in the area east of the Stadium 6 movie theaters.

When crews arrived on the scene they found flames coming from two basement windows, on the back side of the home. The single family home was being remodeled at the time and was unoccupied.

Humphreys said fire crews began fighting the fire from the outside until it was safe to enter the home and extinguish the remaining fire.

The home sustained extensive heat and smoke damage throughout all the rooms. Humphreys said a damage estimate is still being made but it appeared to be a total loss.

Crews from North Logan and Smithfield helped the Logan Fire Department extinguish the fire.

Humphreys said there were no injuries and an investigation into the fire is continuing.
