Bike to Work and Bike to School week raises awareness

This is “Bike to School and Bike to Work” week and several activities have been going on which promote riding a bike as a healthy and enjoyable exercise. Ferron Wiesse, Safe Kids Coalition Coordinator for the Bear River Health Department said it’s not enough just to wear a helmet, you must make sure it fits properly.

“Sometimes that’s difficult when we go out and we sometimes fit helmets and the girls that have the cute hair-dos and the fancy ponytails and all those,” Weisse said. “Sometimes that can be tricky.

“But a helmet should be on the top of the head. The front should come right over their eyebrows and the helmet shouldn’t be able to move or rock around on their head. The strap should be snug. So make sure the helmet fits good.”
