Cache Valley Hospital breaks ground for new Women’s Center

In 2008, the eighth year of Cache Valley Hospital’s existence, the hospital’s vision changed, leading to a groundbreaking event Tuesday in North Logan for the hospital’s new Women’s Center which will open in 2017.

“In 2008 we began to start building our services and growing and really moving toward a vision of becoming Cache Valley’s first choice for health care,” said the hospital’s CEO, John Worley. “We want people to think Cache Valley Hospital first when they need care. We can get people in, we can evaluate them, then we can either get them taken care of here or get them sent to the right place for the type of care they need.”

July of last year marked the hospital’s first live births.

“When MountainStar acquired us in 2014 the goal was set then to build a Women’s Service Center and begin delivering babies. It really becomes the last service line we need to offer a full range of services.”

Worley said construction begins Wednesday morning.

The new 9,000-square foot facility will include six LDRP rooms.

“That means that mom and her new baby will stay in the same room for their entire stay. They will check in, the labor and birth and recovery will all take place in the same room with the newborn staying right there with mom.

“The rooms will be large, the largest in Utah, and will include a pull out couch for dads. So mom and dad will be there together with the baby and family members can come and have a great family experience.”

Worley said Cache Valley Hospital will have the most competitive service that can be provided in the valley from both a price and quality standpoint.

The crowd at Tuesday’s event heard from Worley, Greg Angle, President of HCA Mountain Division; North Logan Mayor Lloyd Berentzen; Dr. Matt Welter, Chief of the hospital medical staff and Christie Gaz, Director of Women’s Services.
