Trial postponed for Logan man charged with child sex abuse

Brian K. Williams, 36, charged with six counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony and six counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.

LOGAN — A five-day jury trial in April has been postponed for a 36-year-old Logan man, facing 12 charges of sex abuse of a child and forcible sex abuse.

Brian Williams appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. His defense attorney asked Judge Kevin Allen for additional time to prepare for trial. State attorney Barbara Lachmar argued that she hated to postpone the case because of the young victims involved, but would go along with the court’s ruling.

Judge Allen granted the request and rescheduled the trial for September 28.

Williams was originally arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail, May 1, 2014. He was later released after posting a $40,000 bail.

During a preliminary hearing in August, three victims described how Williams touched them inappropriately; one saying that he would do it 10-to-15 times a month. They also described how he would shower with the girls and “skinny dip” with them in a hot tub.

He has pleaded not guilty to six counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony and six counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.

Williams will appear again in court for a final pretrial conference August 31.
