Construction has started on a new hotel on the corner of 200 North Main in Logan. Logan Mayor Craig Petersen told members of the city council on Tuesday the existing plot of land does not have enough space for parking, but extra spaces have been been arranged near the hotel.

“The project has put some pressures on some parking in this area,” the mayor explained. “We have made some arrangements (north) of the library on the corner of 300 North and Main. We have some negotiations under way for additional parking.

“But as we talked about this this morning I think that, although there is some inconvenience, the parking issue hasn’t been as serious as we anticipated. We seem to have found enough to accommodate most usages.”

The mayor said he has been told that the hotel plans to pour footings on October 12 so it is making significant progress.
