LOGAN - Anonymous, a group of activists and hacktivists, is currently acting out to put a stop to Logan River Academy. Anonymous claims that Logan River Academy uses procedures that bully and abuse students. In a press release from Anonymous, they've included testimonials from survivors of the program. One testimonial even tells of a staff member having sexual relations with a student.

Anonymous is known for carrying out cyber attacks on government, religious and corporate groups. They are now taking to Twitter, Facebook and other forms of social media to spread the word about Logan River Academy. At 2 pm today, the group will start what is known as a Tweetstorm. A Tweetstorm is when many Twitter users send out the same tweet at the same time. A common hashtag the group has been using is #ShutLoganRiver.

Along with the testimonials included in the press release, Anonymous addresses other concerns they have about Logan River Academy:

Many students in this program spend most of their days sitting straight forward, not allowed to move, look at another student, or make any noise; think detention but much longer and more strict. The program calls it “DEVO” and they hand it out for any and all infractions.

It is also stated in the press release that many of the staff at Logan River Academy are college students and are paid minimum wage. Anonymous is passing along a petition which currently has close to 800 signatures. In addition, the group put together a four minute video about Logan River Academy, where they call on viewers to contact the Academy as well as Logan Mayor Randy Watts with concerns.

According to their website, Logan River Academy helps boys and girls between the ages of 12-18 who are struggling in the home, community and school. Many of the students struggle with emotional and behavioral issues.
