Suspicious house fire in Beaver Dam

The community of Beaver Dam, off highway 30.

BEAVER DAM – A body was found Thursday night, in the remains of a house fire. Box Elder County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Kevin Potter said the body appeared to be the only occupant of the home. It is believed, the man may have set fire to his home, as a way of committing suicide.

The man’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner for positive identification and to determine the cause of death. Potter said the man’s name will not be released until examinations are complete. He said though, “it is believed to be the adult male who was unaccounted for.”

Potter said the fire at 16488 North Beaver Dam Road, was reported Thursday morning, by a neighbor. They called emergency crews after hearing an explosion and seeing flames coming from the home. Crews arrived on the scene to find the home engulfed in flames and a complete loss.

Crews from Tremonton, Garland, Plymouth, Box Elder, and the Utah Highway Patrol all reported to the fire.

The investigation is ongoing
