County Council doesn’t anticipate a major property tax increase

LOGAN – The year is almost over and members of the Cache County Council continue to work on closing the years’ budget and planning for 2018.

Council Chairman Greg Merrill said there have been major expenses but no one is anxious for a property tax increase.

“We do everything we can to provide the services that the citizens are asking for in an economical manner,” he said. “When it comes to anything that has to with any additional tax on the citizens we scrutinize it the best we can to try to minimize it. Even assuming the rates go up this year it amounts to less than five dollars per year.”

Merrill said that rate would be for an average family and there are always a lot of variables.
