Bank of Utah presents "Hoops for Hope’ check for approximately $1,200 to Child and Family Support Center

Utah State University fans had more than one reason to cheer with every point this basketball season. Each time the Aggie men’s basketball team made a basket during home games, a good cause received much needed support. Bank of Utah pledged to donate $1 to the Child & Family Support Center for every Aggie point at home games during the 2013-2014 basketball season. On Wednesday, March 5, at the final home game of the season, Bank of Utah presented a check for approximately $1,200 to Rachel Vance, a representative from the local charity. The money will be used to help construct a new crisis nursery at the Child and Family Support Center’s new Hyrum location.

“Our Logan and Providence branches and our Logan and City Center mortgage offices are pleased to sponsor Utah State Athletics and to partner with them on our Hoops for Hope fundraiser for the Child & Family Support Center,” said Krista Lewis, senior vice president commercial loan officer for Bank of Utah in Cache Valley. “We loved getting behind the Aggie men’s basketball team with the sponsorship, and it was very exciting each time they scored a basket because we knew we were also providing funds to help educate and strengthen families, protect children, and provide support for victims of violence and abuse in our community.”

Esterlee Molyneux, MS, executive director of the Child & Family Support Center in Cache Valley, said, “We are very excited about Bank of Utah’s Hoops for Hope program and have been for the entire Aggie basketball season. We’re so grateful to Bank of Utah for this tremendous fundraising effort on our behalf.”

The Child & Family Support Center is a local non-profit organization committed to strengthening families and protecting children. With locations in both Logan and Hyrum, the Child and Family Support Center provides a 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, a 24-Hour Crisis and Respite Nursery, parenting and child educational programs, and therapy services for primary and secondary victims of abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Molyneux said the money raised will go directly to building a small addition onto the Hyrum facility. This addition will serve as a second crisis nursery available to families who live on the South end of Cache Valley. The non-profit is currently trying to raise $212,000 to turn the existing building in Hyrum into a full service center for families in that community.

“Bank of Utah has been a sponsor of Utah State Athletics for seven years,” said, Patrick Bunetta, account executive for Aggie Sports Properties. “Not only do they support USU men’s basketball through their sponsorship, but they went the extra mile and chose to give back to the community by making a donation to an important community cause.”
