Smithfield woman pleads guilty to shooting at boyfriend

Shantelle Yost Page, 40, arrested April 5, 2015.  She's charged with shooting at her boyfriend during an argument.

LOGAN — A 40-year-old Smithfield woman has pleaded guilty to shooting at her boyfriend several weeks ago, and will now remain in jail awaiting sentencing.

Shantelle Y. Page appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning, accepting a plea deal. Under the agreement she pleaded guilty to felony discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony, domestic violence in the presence of a child, amended to a class A misdemeanor, and in a separate case, possession or use of a controlled substance, also amended to a class A misdemeanor. Three other charges were dismissed.

State attorney Jacob Gordon told the court Page shot at her boyfriend while the two were arguing earlier this month. There were reportedly children present during the altercation. Later after being arrested, she was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Page was arrested April 5 and is being held in the Cache County Jail. She’s scheduled to be sentenced June 8 and could be face up to five-years in prison.
