1000 West motorists reminded to stay in marked lanes for safety

OGDEN– The Utah Department of Transportation reminds motorists driving within the Tenth West Reconstruction (State Road 252) zone in Logan, to stay within the designated travel lanes

In recent weeks, crews on the Tenth West project have encountered motorists driving off of the designated roadway, and both motorists and pedestrians attempting to take unauthorized short cuts between businesses on Tenth West (SR-252), by driving between crews working and their stock piles of materials. Everyone is reminded that this is extremely dangerous behavior.

“Unauthorized motorists and vehicles, or pedestrians in the non-roadway construction zone, creates a safety hazard for themselves and the crew,” said Rod Terry, UDOT Project Manager. “When motorists drive in areas not authorized or specifically designated, there is a greater danger to the crews working on the project. They are not watching out for motorists and pedestrians in these areas and the motorists and pedestrians are at risk because they are unaware of hazards that may exist in these non-roadway areas.

“So we’re asking motorists and pedestrians to use only the designated business accesses, as this will preserve safety for them and for our project crews.”

Terry said project management and local law enforcement officials are only interested in keeping everyone safe and violators are at risk of receiving a citation.

For information about where these safe accesses are, or about the Tenth West Reconstruction project in general, motorists and pedestrians can email [email protected] or call toll-free, 888-427-8585.
