Aggie center DiLoreto arrested on drug charges

By Cache Valley Daily

Anthony DiLoreto, the 20-year-old freshman center for the Utah State University men's basketball team who was suspended indefinitely earlier this week for an unspecified violation of team rules, was booked in the Cache County Jail Monday night on misdemeanor drug charges.

According to jail booking reports, DiLoreto was arrested at about 6 p.m. near 850 North and 1200 East, just east of the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum where the basketball team holds its games. DiLoreto was redshirting this season after being recruited from Minnetonka, Minn. He entered the program with one strike against him already, criminally, having been convicted last year of attempted bank robbery in connection with an incident in Wisconsin in August 2008. DiLoreto was ordered to serve 90 days in jail in connection with that incident, and was scheduled to serve them in 30-day increments over the next three summers.

A statement released by USU Athletic Media Relations Monday night stated that DiLoreto would not travel or practice with the USU basketball team indefinitely, but it did not identify the reason for DiLoreto's suspension.

DiLoreto was arrested by an officer with the Utah State University Police Department. He is charged with class-A misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Up in smoke... I'll take your word on this one. Your question - is it really that bad? I guess that depends whether or not you condone pot. Does the world really need fewer brain cells than it already has?

Good job. It only took Shawn Harrison 5 hours after CVDaily, SLTrib and DesNews reported on this to decide it was newsworthy for the Hairy Urinal.

Our team has an excellent reputation on and off the court. Not worth ruining it over this guy. I say bye bye to Anthony.
