Aggie women's tennis sweeps Montana, 7-0

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women’s tennis swept Montana, 7-0, Saturday at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club. The win brings the Aggies to a 4-3 record this season. USU currently has a two-match winning streak both of which were shutouts.

USU took the doubles point with victories at the number one and two positions. At the one spot, junior Hailey Swenson and freshman Jaclyn West defeated UM’s Amanda Bran and Lauren Gibson, 8-5. Aggie senior Britney Watts and junior Taylor Perry then fell at the three position to the Grizzlies’ Heather Davidson and Cara Lehman, 8-5. To seal the doubles point, sophomore Monica Abella and freshman Kristina Voytsekhovich battled to defeat UM’s Kayla Moyse and Constance Alexander, 9-7, at the two position.

USU continued to dominate competition, sweeping all of the singles points. At the one spot, Swenson defeated the Grizzlies’ Alexander, 7-5, 6-1. Swenson holds a team- high singles record of 6-1, all at the top spot. West, Voytsekhovich, Abella, Perry and Watts all won their respective matches. Voytsekhovich, West and Watts hit a season 5-2 mark in singles competition, while Abella and Perry are now 4-3 this the season.

The Aggies continue home action with a match against Montana State Thursday, March 4 at 12 p.m. All home matches are held at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club and admission is free and open to the public.
