Utah State’s Stew Morrill responds to WAC reprimand

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head men’s basketball coach Stew Morrill issued a statement Wednesday regarding his reprimand from the Western Athletic Conference for a situation that occurred during USU’s 81-63 win against New Mexico State Saturday.

“It was a loose ball situation, words were exchanged and my response was inappropriate,” said Morrill. “I made a mistake and will work to improve my language. New Mexico State has a good team and Jahmar Young is a good player. He was called for a technical foul on the play and I now have been disciplined by the WAC. That should cover it.”

Utah State, the top seed in this week’s WAC Tournament in Reno, Nev., will play eighth-seeded Boise State on Thursday, March 11 at 1 p.m. (MT) in the first quarterfinal of the day. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.

Way to represent Utah, trying to fight a student. Real Utah schools, would never do such a thing. If Stew sat on the poor kid it'd be over.

I still cant believe Benson wont go after the NewMags program in general. The players are out of control. I hope they lose in the first round. Not because im afraid of them as an Aggie fan, but they dont deserve to win.

Jahmar Young is a piece of trash. Stew was absolutely in the right to put him in his place. And Stew, we love you the way your are, salty language and all! Don't go changing on us!
