Aggie Volleyball Begins 2010 Season With First Practice Monday

LOGAN, Utah Utah State's volleyball team, picked fourth in the Western Athletic Conference preseason poll by the league's coaches, will begin the 2010 season on Monday, Aug. 9 with its first practice of the year at 9:00 a.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Fifth-year head coach Grayson DuBose welcomes back six starters, plus its libero, and 10 letterwinners from last year's team that finished 15-14 on the season and in seventh-place in the WAC with a 6-10 league record.
Five of those players returning for Utah State have earned all-WAC honors during their careers including junior outside hitter Liz McArthur who was named to the league's second-team in 2009. Senior setter Chelsea Fowles, senior middle blocker Katie Astle and senior libero Christine Morrill all earned second-team all-WAC honors in 2008, while junior opposite side hitter Emily Kortsen was named to the league's all-freshman team in 2008.
Utah State opens the 2010 campaign on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Utah Classic in Salt Lake City against UC Davis at 1 p.m., before facing host and in-state foe Utah at 7 p.m. The Aggies host another in-state team in their home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 31 when Weber State visits the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. (MT).
