Woller earns second-straight Mountain West Defensive Player Of Week along with first USU Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah -- Utah State sophomore goalkeeper Jeannie Woller was named Mountain West Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the period Aug. 26-Sept. 1.

Woller earned her second-straight Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week honor after being honored last week as well. The sophomore netminder also earned her first career USU weekly accolade.

Woller (Sandy, Utah) guided Utah State to a pair of 1-0 wins last week as it defeated Utah Valley at home and UTEP on the road. Against UVU on Aug. 26, she made three saves as the Wolverines took 11 shots in the match. Against UTEP on Aug. 30, she made five saves as the Aggies' faced 12 shots. For the week, Woller played 180 minutes, facing 23 shots and making eight saves. Woller has now recorded three-straight shutouts to start the season for the first time in program history.

UNLV senior forward Jenn Wolfe was named the MW's Offensive Player of the Week, as the Rebels went 2-0-0 at the UNLV Nike Invitational.

After earning a 2-2 tie against Nebraska on Monday, Sept. 2, the Aggies are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 7 against border-foe Idaho State at 12 p.m., before returning home to host Arkansas on Friday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY – Senior Kyle McKenna (Farmington, Utah) won the four-mile race at the Utah State hosted Aggie Invitational last weekend with a time of 20:52.17 as he helped Utah State place first as a team.place first as a team.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY – Freshman Tori Parkinson (Wellsville, Utah) won the five-kilometer race at the Utah State hosted Aggie Invitational last weekend with a time of 19:33.71 as she helped Utah State place first as a team.

FOOTBALL – Junior quarterback Chuckie Keeton (Houston, Texas) recorded career-highs in both completions (31) and attempts (40) and passed for 314 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Utah State’s season-opening 30-26 loss at Utah last week. Keeton also rushed for 85 yards on 15 carries and scored another touchdown.

VOLLEYBALL – Junior outside hitter Rachel Orr (Thatcher, Ariz.) was named to the Utah Classic All-Tournament Team after helping Utah State to 2-1 mark last week with wins against Northern Iowa (3-1) and Fairfield (3-2), and a loss to the host Utes (3-2). Orr posted double-doubles in all three matches, logging 15 kills and a career-high 16 digs against Utah, 12 kills and 14 digs against UNI, and a career-high 19 kills to go with 14 digs against FU. Orr hit a season-high .311 (19-5-45) in the Fairfield match, while notching a new career-high with two service aces. She also posted a new career-high with three block assists against Utah. For the weekend, Orr had a .206 attack percentage (46-19-131) and averaged 3.29 kills, 3.14 digs, 0.29 blocks and 0.14 aces per set.
