Cache County Republican Party Chairman David James says President Obama made a great choice when he picked Governor Huntsman to be the Ambassador to China. He says Huntsman is very well-quaified for that position.James also says he is excited about Lt. Governor Gary Herbert stepping into the role of governor for at least the next year and a half. James says Herbert’s views on several issues are more in line with his own and with many Cache Valley Repulicans. There have been some issues where James, and he believes Herbert, has disagreed with Huntsman. “I was a little disappointed when Governor Huntsman went and, without working through the legislature, signed the Western Climate Initiative,” James says. “I’m not sure I see things eye-to-eye with him on his stance on civil unions,” James continues. “I don’t have a huge difference there, it’s just, again, I’m not sure what all that was about.”James says he does believe others will be running against Herbert in the fall of 2010. Among them, he believes, might be Attorney General Mak Shurtleff who has recently been thinking of running against Senator Bob Bennett.
