Strengthening Families and Protecting Children is the mission of the Child and Family Support Center and a new pilot program called “Healthy Families Forever” has helped reduce child abuse cases substantially in other parts of the country.The program is designed to give first-time parents resources and instruction in caring for their children. Program supervisor Julie Miller says parents receive support in three ways: in-home visits, community referrals and group meetings.The Center has funding for 25 families and 20 families are already participating. The program was introduced to local and state officials last week.
