Halaufia to take over USU Alumni Relations

Long-time Utah State University administrator Patty Halaufia has been named head of the Alumni Relations office at the university. Halaufia, currently executive director of the USU Foundation, assumed her new duties as executive director of Alumni Relations Friday, June 5.She will continue as executive director of the foundation, a position she has held since 2006. As foundation director, she re-energized the board, turning it from a 10-member board into a 30-member organization whose members are taking an active part in the university’s current capital campaign and its investment actions. She served in the Alumni Relations office from 1994-2004, including five years as associate director and five years as assistant director. USU President Stan Albrecht said he has worked closely with Halaufia in various capacities throughout his tenure at USU, and he is excited about her proven skills and the professional focus she will bring to the job.”Patty has proven herself again and again in a number of ways throughout her career here,” the president said. “She is highly skilled and has been enormously successful in every position she has held.”Albrecht said Halaufia’s new duties are particularly important right now in the midst of USU’s comprehensive capital campaign, whose success relies so significantly on the university’s deep pool of alumni who have become successful in their lives and professions.”Our alumni represent the rich stories that are this university’s promise to people — they know what it means to live and breathe a Utah State University education better than anyone,” Albrecht said. “We need to talk to them and, more important, we need to hear from them because they are the ones who will bring our message to the public. Our alumni director will play a critical role in USU’s success, and Patty has shown that she already knows and works well with our alumni.”Halaufia has already been instrumental in the success of USU’s current capital campaign, according to Ross Peterson, vice president for university advancement, under whom Halaufia will serve.”She stays involved with many alumni groups and will lead the alumni staff with vision and excitement,” he said. “Patty represents the very best of USU, and her advancement is a reward for a career of excellence.”Halaufia said she is excited to be back in the alumni office, and she looks forward to renewing the many close and rewarding relationships she had while she was in her previous roles in the office.
