Court stenographers getting cut

On June 30th several court stenographers who work for the state will be released as part of state budget cuts. Daniel Becker, who heads the Administrative Office of the Courts, says the decision to eliminate the positions was made because courtrooms’ digital recording systems can do the same job for less money. Becker says the move will save the state about $1.5 million a year.
