Cat licensing put on hold

A proposal to require cat owners in Logan to register and license their animals was put on hold last night at Logan’s Municipal Council meeting. Police Captain Tyson Budge said most of the cats recovered by the city’s Animal Control Agency have not been vaccinated and they are usually euthanized.Bude told the council that a tougher law would encourage pet owners to spay or neuter their pets and enforcement would be mandated by complaints. The council agreed to consider a so-called “Trap/Neuter/Return/Maintain” program explained by Whitney Milligan. She explained that killing the animals does not work long term and it is not cost effective.
