The White House is anxious to get a health care reform bill passed this year. USU Political Science Professor Mike Lyons says President Obama may decide to go for whatever bill that he can get through Congress rather than have the issue spill over into next year which is an election year. Lyons says he fears what may emerge could be a rather partial, ramshackle bill that isn’t very satisfactory to anybody. He says the House and the Senate are two different institutions and he wonders how they would ever reconcile their differences over the health care issue. At this time, he says, whether a comprehensive health care bill is passed or not is completely unknowable.
