Bishop votes against Agriculture Appropriations bill

First District Congressman Rob Bishop, R-UT, Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus, voted ‘No’ Thursday on H.R. 299, the “Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2010.”The measure provides an increase in funding of $2.4 billion, nearly 12 percent over last year. Bishop says, “at a time when unemployment is reaching 10 percent and Americans are looking for every possible way to save their hard-earned tax dollars, Democrats seem intent on finding new ways to spend them.”Bishop says the legislation includes significant increases in funding for several programs that, upon evaluation, should have been reduced.
