Lemon: Canal company representative to speak at Tuesday’s County Council meeting

Cache County has no ownership in wells, but County Executive Lynn Lemon says the county has been doing all it can to help those involved in the mudslide that claimed the lives of a Logan family on July 11.On KVNU’s Crosstalk show, Lemon said someone from the canal companies will give an update on the situation at tomorrow’s 5 p.m. County Council Meeting. Lemon said efforts are being made to get federal money to help pay for damages. Although the canals built by pioneers are old, he said they have served the state and the county very well.”Our farmland would not be near as productive as it is had we not been able to get water on it,” Lemon said. “I think it’s unfortunate when a tragedy like this happens people are more interested in trying to point the finger and find blame than saying what do we need to do to solve the problem.”Lemon said efforts are being made to divert the water from the Lundstrom Park area in order to get water to the farmers who desperately need it.
