Water leak causes damage in Logan

Logan City crews are still cleaning up after a major leak in a water line Wednesday night in the area of 400 North and 100 West. Public Works Director Mark Nielson says the leak was brief but caused some significant damage. “Evidently the cap loosened up enough that we had a lot of flow coming out of the leak and it washed up a lot of silt and sediment,” Nielsen said Thursday morning. “We had a pretty good sized hole in the road, probably a 30-foot round hole. “Water and mud and debris got into two homes there adjoining to it and then we had a lot of water flowing down west that had some icing problems that we had to take care of.” “Gary has signed with the ‘Dongbu’ team in S. Korea,” Pensack says in a recent email. “After attending the league’s draft camp in Las Vegas last week, Gary was selected as the first pick of the second round. Gary is much looking forward to joining his new team on August 24th as this will be a great start to his career.” Specific terms of Gary’s contract have not been revealed, but according to the league’s official website players earn $25,000/month during the regular season and will receive an additional $300 bonus for every win. Players also receive bonus pay for playoffs. Players are provided with dorms, meals and airfare (business class). Dongbu Promy is a perennial playoff team and has won three KBL championships, as recent as the 07-08 season, and competed in two others. The team is located in Wonju, Gangwon province, which is about 90 miles east of Seoul. Over 300,000 people live in the city which is also home to two U.S. Army bases.
